How to add a Vimeo video to your WordPress website, if you don’t use GutenbergLocate Your Vimeo Video:

  • Go to Vimeo and find the video you want to add to your WordPress site.
  • Click on the video to play it, then pause it.

Get the Video URL:

  • Look for the URL in your browser’s address bar while the video is open. It should look something like https://vimeo.com/123456789.
  • Copy this URL.

Open Your WordPress Dashboard:

  • Log in to your WordPress site’s admin area.

Create or Edit a Post/Page:

  • Go to Posts or Pages on your WordPress dashboard, depending on where you want to add the video.
  • Either create a new post/page or edit an existing one.

Insert the Video URL:

  • In the classic editor, place your cursor where you want the video to appear in your content.
  • Paste the copied Vimeo video URL directly into the content area. Make sure it’s not hyperlinked – if it turns into a hyperlink, simply undo this.
  • WordPress will automatically recognise the Vimeo URL and embed the video.

Check the Video Embed:

  • Once you paste the URL, WordPress will fetch the video from Vimeo and display it in the editor.
  • You can see a preview of how the video will look on your post or page.

Publish or Update Your Post/Page:

  • Once you’re satisfied with the placement and preview of the video, you can go ahead and publish or update your post/page.

View the Post/Page:

After publishing, visit the post or page to see the Vimeo video live on your site.

Remember, the video will only be visible on the live version of your site, not in the WordPress editor. If you need to adjust the size or customise the appearance of the embedded video, you would need to use additional HTML or CSS, which requires a bit more technical know-how.
