Hello Abbie of Polyspiral Website Design and Hosting as you can see I have a new background [points to logo], do you like it? I might just post this on LinkedIn, Facebook but this is landscape so probably going on LinkedIn.
What I'll talk about the design process from your building websites so how do I go about it? You're probably wondering if you've ever had a new website built, what you were going to do and how you're going to go about it.
So when you come to me, and I think this the process, most if not all website designers go through. I'll meet you and talk to you in an email, maybe like this on video we may be face to face which is really nice, or coffee and maybe some cake.
I find out all about your business all about what you do and all about your target audience because your website should reflect you personally if you're a one man band, and it should reflect your business but also, very, very importantly, who are your, target audience and it's such a horrible, cheesy marketing term ‘target audience’. Target audience means for people whom you are trying to reach, who they are, what makes them tick. What are the problems that you solve that they have? So we establish all of that.
Then, if you haven't got a logo designed that’s a separate package, but usually people have a logo already, but if they don't, same process. I find out all about what you do, you're trying to do this, what you want to say how you want to come across and then the next stage is building or designing the thing that you sell on your website so your website I go off and create it in a whole separate area out of out of search engines reach so Google can't reach it, no one can find it for a secure area. Build it and design it, and then send you a sent a link.
I didn't mean to make that rhyme. So you're you have a look you think ‘Yeah, can you make that bit green?’ and I say ‘I can make it bigger’.’ Can I have another page’ me: ‘of course you can have another page’. Decent designers these days do not charge by page. That's ridiculous. pages can be so long page or really short. You don't charge by page you charge by feature so a shop is a bit extra or forum if you want one is a bit extra.
What else? Events or workshops, they would be a bit extra because it’s an extra bit of work to add on. But you can have as many pages as you like, as long as that’s going to work in the navigation.
So that is the development process and I believe the design process of logos and websites you should be completely satisfied before it goes live. I'm never going to give anyone a thing where I go ‘there I go, this is it. Now go off and be successful’. I'm make sure that your website is everything you need it to be so you can actually use it. I do that and you have unlimited changes until you’re completely happy with your website, that’s 100%. S
o when the website goes live for a couple weeks after that like when you send an email you see your spelling mistakes, it’s so annoying but when it goes live there's something psychological that happens and you look at it and go ‘ah actually, I'm seeing it as if someone visiting my site is seeing it’, and how your customers will see the website so you can make some changes. You can change the colour or the structure of the website.
The process is a developmental process and once the website goes live, yes, you've got a couple of weeks to make changes, but with my hosting you get one-to-one support throughout so your website is technically supported, any bugs are fixed, it’s eco friendly, so there's 100% run on renewable energy so that your website isn’t damaging the planet. Your website is completely supported technically. So once we’re finished building and tested it, get your friends to look at it or some colleagues look at it, people that you trust, whose opinions are valid, they're good for giving constructive opinions, mobile friendly, SEO optimised is registered with Google Analytics and Bing which is Microsoft’s search engine, which powers a lot of things and that cycle through the design, process and logo design.
So if you want to know what the process is, it’s very simple to start off. I find out stuff, who your target audience is, ada. So building the thing, designing the thing, and make sure you’re happy with your website.
So that's what I do and I hope that’s the process for all website designers.
