Over four friendly online sessions, you’ll build your own WordPress website from scratch — step by step, in a small, supportive group. No jargon, no assumptions, and no need to have anything set up already. If you can send an email and use a web browser, you’ve got everything you need to begin.

It’s for you if you’re a small business owner, freelancer, sole trader or charity who knows you need a website but hasn’t taken the plunge yet. Commissioning a bespoke site is a big step (and cost) when you’re starting out — this course gives you a proper working website and the know-how to run it yourself, for a fraction of that.

What we’ll cover, one session at a time:

Session 1 (4 Feb) — The Foundations: how the web works, what WordPress is, and getting your domain and hosting sorted.
Session 2 (11 Feb) — Building Your Site: installing WordPress, choosing a theme, and structuring your pages.
Session 3 (18 Feb) — Content & Plugins: writing pages that work for real people and search engines, adding the right plugins, and keeping your site secure.
Session 4 (25 Feb) — Going Live with Confidence: final checks, SEO basics, and keeping your site maintained without spending hours on it.

The details:

Four live Zoom sessions on Thursdays, 10:30am–12:00pm, running weekly through February. Recordings available if you miss one. You’ll also get a participant guide for each session, a practice website to build on, email support between sessions, and access to Polyspiral’s recommended tools.

By the end, you’ll have a working website and the confidence to manage it yourself — a solid foundation you can grow from.
