We highly recommend using a laptop or desktop, rather than a mobile device such as an ipad or iphone as there are lots of options that can get complex.

Please note

Large images take longer to download, the more images you add the slower the website page will be.
The speed of your website is a ranking factor in Google, so the slower your website the lower your website will rank in Google.
So be sparing, have a maximum of 3 slides per slideshow.

To  add, edit and delete slides go to: Swift Slider on the left after logging in to your WordPress website:

How to add slides

  1. Click Add New Side

  2. You’ll see a page with a lot of options, the only fields you have to worry about here (if you’re uploading an image only) is Title and Background image ringed in green below:

  3. Add a Title, this is for your reference only and is not visible to website visitors.
Try to make it explanatory enough that you know what it is.
  1. Upload your background image, this will be the image of your slide.
    Click + Add Media:

  2. Either upload a new image or choose from existing images you’ve uploaded and click Select

  3. If you find you’ve uploaded an image and it crops something off at the top (someone’s head for example) then you can change the alignment within the space the slide is shown in, by setting this in Background image vertical align and Background image horizontal align
Set to top to show more of the top:

  4. To add the text to that displays over the slideshow image, click the Slide Content tab:

  5. Caption title works as the title and is usually set to large. Caption text is like body text, you can add images and links here, but DO keep it simple, it can get confusing when there’s lots of images and text over a slide show image:

  6. Once done click Publish

How to show the slide in your page

You should have the Atelier theme installed.

  1. Go to the page where you want to show the slide, scroll down to Meta Options and set the Slider to Swift Slider:

  2. There will be lots of options to choose from. You really only need to tweak Swift Slider Max Height and Swift Slider Transition.

Swift Slider Max Height sets the height of the slide in the page
Swift Slider Transition set the way the slides change, either slide or fade

Try out different options to see what you prefer for your website.

  3. Click Update when you are done.

Set to top to show more of the top:

  6. To edit text that goes over the slide image, click the Slide Content tab:

  7. Caption Title is similar to Page or Post titles in how it displays, and is usually set to be in a larger font than the Caption text in the style sheet.

Caption text is like body text, you can add images and links here but DO keep it simple!
It can get confusing for website visitors when there are lots of images and text over a slide show image:
