Session 1:  The Foundations
How the web actually works, what WordPress is and why it’s the right choice for most small businesses, and how to get your domain name and hosting set up properly.

Session 2: Building Your Site
Installing WordPress, choosing a theme that suits your brand, and understanding the structure of your pages.

Session 3: Content & Plugins
Writing pages that work for both real people and search engines, adding the right plugins, and keeping your site secure.

Session 4:  Going Live with Confidence
Final checks, SEO basics, and what to do once your site is published — including how to keep it maintained without spending hours on it.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a working practice website you can build from, a clear understanding of how everything fits together, and the confidence to manage your own site going forward.

This course is designed for you if:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a domain name or hosting already? No — we’ll cover this in Session 1 and help you choose the right options for your needs.

What if I can’t make one of the sessions? Sessions are recorded, so you won’t miss out if something comes up. We do recommend attending live where you can, as there’s lots of opportunities to ask questions.

Will I have a finished website by the end? You’ll have a solid, working practice website for 30 days after the last session, that you can continue to develop. Whether you publish it straight away or use it as a starting point, that’s completely up to you.

I’m not very techy, will I keep up? Absolutely. This course is specifically designed for beginners. Abbie is well known for making technical topics feel approachable, and no question is too basic.

What if I want something more custom after the course? After the course, many participants choose to work with Polyspiral for a more bespoke website design. You’ll have a much clearer idea of what you want by then, which makes the whole process smoother and more affordable.
